Release synopsis.

After nearly four years, JASMENO returns with a work that not only expands on its existing language but also redefines it in an almost sculptural spirit. The new album, titled "Assemblage of Cinematic Idioms" draws inspiration from the creative practice of Wladyslaw Hasior – a compelling, unconventional artist who constructed moving, multi–layered collages from fragments of reality.

Just as Hasior juxtaposed objects of disparate origins, creating tension between the sacred and the profane, Slawomir Nietupski (synthesizers, piano, programming) constructs a musical structure from diverse stylistic idioms and artistic personalities. The result is a sonic matrix that resembles an installation more than a classic album – a space in which each element has its own name, but only when fully assembled does it reveal its full meaning, based on the principles of collaboration and openness.

Previous releases (Jasmeno, Elixir, and Lucid Horizon) confirmed Nietupski's understanding of music as a process of constant transformation of form. However, only now, after years of exploration, has the artist decided to take a radical step: creating a work with a distinctly cinematic character, composed entirely around a virtual symphony orchestra.

The album's title is no coincidence, as the term assemblage refers to the method of building a whole from fragments – in this particular edition, from the personalities of the guest musicians and vocalists. "Cinematic idioms," on the other hand, point to the narrative, pictorial nature of the compositions, which unfold like scenes from a nonexistent film–full of tension, contrasts, and emotional climaxes. In contrast to the commonly used digital graphic standards, the entire visuals for the album were created traditionally – hand-painted using water colors by the founder of JASMENO.

Six extensive tracks, totalling nearly 50 minutes, create a cohesive, thoughtful structure. From the very first seconds, the listener is drawn into a world of intense melodies and dynamically crafted arrangements, where subtlety meets monumentality. Based on the lyrics of poet Izabela Turska–Kamrowska, this intricately constructed vivisection depicts a man grappling with everyday doubts and feelings and emotions that permeate separation and misunderstanding. However, the multi-dimensionality and multi-threaded message take the listener on a journey through a search for faith and finding joy in everyday life. The sonic landscape is underpinned by the unconventional guitar parts of Michal Grall (Unblessed Divine, ex–Sinister) and the refined bass lines of Artur Olkowicz (Mechanism, Art of Illusion). Both musicians create an impactable foundation upon which a rich orchestral fabric unfolds. The composition's surprising twists and turns (almost like in an action movie) are shaped by the daring, towering vocals of Brian Gawaski.

The numerous invited guests are also of particular importance. The innovative use of sonic expression is enriched by the participation of various artists: Bartlomiej Krysiuk of Patriarkh (vocals), Marc Grewe of Morgoth (vocals), Snorre Ruch of Thorns (vocals), Yusaf Parvez of DHG/Dødheimsgard (vocals/guitar), Slawomir Maryniewski of Armagedon (vocals), Lecia Louise (vocals/guitar), Sasha Janowicz (vocals), Joanna Zondlowska (vocals), Lukasz Kowalski (guitar), Tomasz Andrzejewski (guitar), Mariusz Domaradzki of Yattering (guitar), Ryszard Kramarski of Millenium (keyboards), and Robert Kolakowski (keyboards). This diversity and blend of personalities gives the entire piece additional depth and a distinctive character among contemporary productions. Each guest brings their own idiom – a distinct, yet unique language of emotion and sophisticated experiences. As in the works of Wladyslaw Hasior, where meaning arises from the tension between elements, the relationship between individual parts is also significant. This is not just a collection of compositions, but a consciously designed sound architecture in which every detail has its place and purposeful significance.

The album was mixed and mastered by Jakub Mankowski, renowned for his collaborations on recordings with artists such as Behemoth, Jordan RudessCzeslaw Mozzil, Justyna Steczkowska, Me and That Man, and Blindead, among others, ensuring a distinct selectivity, intensity, and unique depth of sound.

"Assemblage of Cinematic Idioms" emerges as a complete work–both conceptually and in terms of execution. It is musical assemblage in its purest form: fragmented, yet coherent; multi–layered, yet subordinated to a single vision without the use of artificial intelligence solutions! And just like with Hasior – it is not about easily digestible beauty, but about the intensity of experiences and the repeated by recurring desire to commune with the JASMENO universe.

Additional Information.

JASMENO was founded in the autumn of 2017 by Slavomir Nietupski (keyboards). The key moment was the establishment of cooperation with vocalist Andrea Boccarusso. The Italian also played guitar, and was partially supported by Lecia Louise (vocals/guitar) from Australia and the American Gabriela Gutierrez on harp.

The debut album subtly evoked the best elements of progressive rock and melodic electronic music of the 70s and 80s. The self-titled album, offering 10 compositions, collected a lot of favourable reviews in the media and was finally released on CD in 2020 thanks to the Lynx Music label. The audience liked the unusual stylistic combination associated with the work of, among others: Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, and Tangerine Dream.

A year later, a new release entitled "Elixir" saw the light of day, which sold out in the vinyl format. The compact disc release was immediately pressed by Lynx Music when purchases as pre-order. The EP confirmed the interest of the growing group of fans of this music. Music magazines, radio stations and news portals described the material as a valuable item, complimenting the content with reviews and interviews with Nietupski.

2022 closed the previous discography with another mini album "Lucid Horizon". The strictly limited vinyl record found its fans in the form of 3 versions of the mini album release. Thus, the formula of experimental rock and synthpop was now heavily overworked, and Slavomir decided it was time for new challenges...
